The group at the start of the walk Reflections at Entwistle Reservoir
Walk leader: Mac Calvert
Number on walk: 17
Distance: 10 miles
Weather: Good autumn sunshine
The group assembled at Batridge Barn car park and after a short information talk by Mac, today's leader, set off round Entwistle reservoir. In several places the path was flooded due to all the recent heavy rains but fortunately there was either an official diversion or in one case we had to make our own diversion through brambly woodland to avoid walking through quite long stretches of waterloggedpath. After passing the Strawbury Duck pub we dropped down to Wayoh reservoir then continued through Turton Bottoms to meet the path round Jumbles our third reservoir of the day.
Lunch was taken here and, suitably refreshed, we made our way round the east side of Jumbles to meet the Chapeltown road near Lithermans Bridge. Walking past Turton Tower on our left we continued along a pleasant wooded path before descending to Chapeltown village. After passing through the village we continued on our way round the east side of Wayoh before turning left on a concessionary path through a lovely area wooded with native trees and passed under the impressive railway viaduct before arriving back at our cars in plenty of time. Mac not only organised the good weather for us but also a walk ideally suited to condions after days of heavy rain.
Ps: Back at car park Mac asked everyone to give Glenn a clap for being the alternative leader of the day!
