Stoops Bridge Abbeystead

Distance: 10 miles

Weather: Light rain in morning, clear in afternoon.

We had 5 West Lancs members plus a visitor Helen Cadman who we were pleased to welcome from Merseystriders.

We met by the river Wyre at Stoops Bridge we then went over the bridge towards the North of Ward Stone.  We walked up Ward Stone via the stalkers path heading south along Ward Stone where we took time to appreciate the good views over Abbeystead Valley and Tarn Brook. We continued through Tarn Brook took a left through the fields towards the Duke of Westminsters house. We walked by his well kept gardens following the Wyre way back to the cars.

Despite the bad weather at the start of the walk everyone said they had enjoyed it.
