Pudding Plod 2016

On a very grey, but at least dry, December morning, 19 people turned up at the Calf's  Head, Worston,  for a short walk led by David before the main event of the day - the Christmas meal.

Before we set off David explained where we would be going, the length of the walk, and that we would be met at Downham by Susan and John Evenden who would supply us with Mince pies and drinks of the alcoholic  nature. So, despite the gloomy weather, our spirits were high as we crossed soggy fields to arrive at Little Mearley Hall. After a short grouping up stop we continued ,passing Angram Green, Barkerfield and Hookcliffe farms  to cross the Downham to Barley road and onwards through drier fields, turning left at Brownlow farm,to reach Downham spot on time and where we enjoyed the refreshments provided by Susan and John.

It was only a couple of miles now back to the cars at Worston which we reached about 12 pm giving us plenty of time to get changed into our finery (?) and make our way into the pub. Here we were met by 11 more people and 30 of us sat down at 1.00 pm for our Christmas meal which  was served with the usual efficiency by the staff at the Calf's Head. At the start of the meal. our chairman, John, gave everyone a raffle ticket and at the end two lucky people, Claire and Kenneth, went home with a bottle of wine each.

The meal was excellent value and the occasion was enjoyed by all who attended.
