Remembrance Sunday, Nov 13th

On a rather grey Sunday Morning 28 members, mostly from our group, but with a few from East lancs , met up at the Bottom Barn for the walk to the Bomber Memorial and the annual Remembrance Day service which is held there. When we arrived about 10.45 am there was already a decent-sized crowd gathered and this increased to about 200 by 11.00am. After the 2 minute silence and the laying of wreaths, a short service was taken by a member of Chorley Ramblers.

23 of us followed this with a walk over to Lower Hempshaw's where we had a lunch stop, continuing over Spitlers Edge, now with a proper footpath along, it which made the going somewhat easier, and descended to White Coppice for a short afternoon stop before making our way, passing Rivington reservoirs, and round the 'island' which was very colourful with autumn leaves, to arrive back at our cars just before 4.00pm.
