“Th’owd Fella’s Walk”   2^nd. August .

We won’t tell you his age and we won’t name him either, but he’s nearer 80 than 70 and Scafell Pike was on his list of do’s before he gets too old.

This was his chance as our group of 9 walkers left Dungeon Ghyll and headed towards Rossett Ghyll and Scafell Pike. Early hill mist was visibly clearing as we reached Esk Hause and a break for a brew, before continuing on to Scafell Pike and a lunch stop.

Th’owd fella, now happy as a sandboy, was un-deterred, even when we pointed out to him our return journey, which was to include Great End, Esk Pike and Bowfell.

Wonderful views all round as we made our way round to Bowfell and down The Band to our cars.
