This can be accessed via the far end of the car park belonging to the Plough Inn, on the left of the A6 just before railway bridge and the centre of Galgate.

I hope to be finished by 4.30pm and we will then return to Galgate, next to junction 33 of the M6, to pick up the remaining cars and then return home from there. It is just 6 miles and 15 minutes drive between Abbeystead and Galgate.

17 miles - 8 hours walking – 2,149ft of ascent

12.5 miles - 5 hours walking – 870ft of ascent plus an additional 1.5 miles back to Cowan Bridge.

Meet at public car park in Cowan Bridge by the village hall and behind the Tea Rooms (GR 636 764) next to the village hall - donation advised. It is not the largest car park, so if you can, please do car share. We have a coach booked to take us to Wray, which will leave at 9am so hopefully we will begin walking at around 9.30am.

I hope to be back by around 4pm.

The coach has seating for 29 people so if you know of anyone that would like to join us for this relatively gentle day's walk then please do invite them.
