The Longnor Loop - Aug 2015

It was a long journey to Longnor (either through Chesterfield (closed for a marathon)) or thru Sheffield, but well worth it.

Eight walkers started from Longnor Village on a sunny but misty morning. As we went over the tops there were inversions everywhere with the mist in the valleys and the tops standing clear.

As we made our way over the tops and through the valleys we made our way to Monyash for lunch. We went through Flagg and Sheldon visiting The Magpie Mine and down into a dry Lathkill Dale and then up into Monyash for refreshments, some went to the pub and others to the café next door.

Suitably refreshed we continued on our way passed the Bull-i-th-Thorn pub and then onto the High Peak Trail for a few miles passing Pilsbury Castle and over the last top and final climb into Longnor. We walked 21miles with 2,290ft of ascent on a very pleasant day in a lovely part of the Peak District, well done Terry and Ruth and thanks for a great day out.

The fun began as we made our way out of Longnor on the return car journey. What with a farmer moving his large herd of cows to pasture along the Road!
