A Pennine Perambulation - Sept 2015

Sat Aug 15 from Penistone Cinema.

The walk started at 8.30am with 17 walkers, 8 members and 9 visitors led by Roy Turner on a fine sunny day.

After a brief history about the town of Penistone which has the oldest grammar school in England, we proceeded on our walk towards Upper Denby and Dunford Bridge returning to Penistone via Thurstone.

We walked in the lovely rolling countryside in the foothills of the Pennies, returning to Penistone we dispersed for lunch some went for fish and chips and others to the pub.

Suitably refreshed we continued on our second leg towards Silkstone and the surrounding area then on to Oxspring and along the Trans pennine Trail back to our start at Penistone.

It was a great day out as Roy’s walks usually are with lots of information regarding places of interest, well done Roy. Can’t understand how we missed Emley Moor!!.
