A Dearne Traverse - Feb 2015

15 walkers started the walk at Clayton West on a very misty morning and at the start we were warned by the leader it would be a very muddy walk on the traverse.

So we set off on this undulating traverse, down valleys and over hills and eventually arrived at the Rising Sun pub at Shelley for a well-earned rest and refreshments. We left the pub and walked uphill to the Emily Moor mast, past the famous Three Acre Hotel and then back downhill again.

We walked through the wood that Roy helped to manage which was a delightful place well worth a summer visit and then continued on back to Clayton West where we started and by now the weather had cleared and could see we had missed a lot of wonderful views but we can always come back again. It was yet again a great walk by Roy and we all learned that traverses are up and down.

Well done Roy look forward to the next!
