Dambusters Dawdle - 15th Feb 2014

Vermuyden LDWA walk Lincoln Feb 15th – Dambusters Dawdle

Dave Wolsey lead the walk from the old grandstand of the now defunct Lincoln racecourse, a grade2 listed building.

The walk started on a cloudy but windy day with 12 walkers, 7 members and 5 visitors. We walked around local villages of Lincolnshire and passed RAF Scampton home in the war to the dambuster squadron and now home to the red arrows. We called for a drink at the Dambuster Inn now a memorial to the old squadron with photos of all the crews both those who lost their lives and those who survived a reminder of the terrible price paid by our young men. Well worth a visit on its own.

We carried on back to the start through several villages and now rain back to the grandstand and finish at about 5pm.

It was a great walk and I cannot believe we did all those miles and Dave kept us out of the mud. Well done Dave.
