Cider With David 21 miles

28th August 2011

Leader Dave Ashford
13 walkers

10 Vermuyden members together with Dave and Tony from the Lincolnshire group and Geoff from East Yorks met at Redbourne Village on a dry and very pleasant Sunday morning. This walk would take us around the Ancholme Valley visiting numerous places where our leader spent his childhood many moons ago.

The late mid morning break was well worth the wait when we were invited to Dave's mothers and together with Dave's wife were treated to the most delicious homemade Sausage rolls and excellent cake washed down with piping hot tea and coffee. It seemed a shame and took a big effort to leave, many thanks for the treat.

The afternoon lunch stop was in the Brandy Wharf Cider Centre, an unusual pub set on the banks of the River Ancholme, this pub was quite busy with plenty outside enjoying the afternoon sun. Most of our group stayed inside and sampled some of the many draught Ciders on offer. After our earlier 'feed' many packed lunches went home.

A good days walking, an excellent stop and a memorable pub stop together with a pleasant dry day and good company. Thanks Dave we really enjoyed the day.
