Negotiating the floods in 2014

49th Punchbowl Marathon

- 11th February 2018 -

Little Cowdray Farm

Event Details

The Punchbowl Marathon is a challenge walk (or run) on the footpaths and bridleways of Surrey. Two routes are offered, 20 & 30 miles. Both routes pass around the scenic Devil's Punchbowl.

There are two start times. An 0730 mass start for walkers and an 0830 mass start for runners, joggers and fast walkers. For those not wishing to mass start the latest start time is 0900. All to finish by 1800.

Due to the ever increasing cost of hiring village halls we are sorry to say that we can no longer offer sleeping facilities at Chichester Hall on the Saturday night before the event.

Runners should note that this event is not a race and does not follow a marked route. It is a cross country event open to walkers, runners & joggers in which you need to follow a detailed route description. If you happen to go wrong then you might well need map-reading skills to get yourself back on route.

The event, which normally takes place on the second Sunday in February, can be subject to the vagaries of winter weather. Should the need arise then any changes to the event will be posted on this site and emailed to the email address given during the on-line entry process.

Checkpoints There are 3 checkpoints along the route (2 on the 20 route) providing drinks and light refreshments - sandwiches, fruit & rice, biscuits, tea & squash - and a friendly welcome!! Bring your own cup/mug. There may be a numbers check following the 20/30mi split.
Requirements Map 1:50000 Landranger 186 or 1:25000 Explorer 133 & 145, compass, map case & whistle, hat & gloves, waterproofs, good torch for 5pm+ finishers, warm clothing.
