The eighth variation on a theme of the annual Friezland pre Christmas walk , from Anne’s

This year, I had recorded the route with a GPS that I can cope  with, and fortunately emailed route over to a couple of the SP group..as on the  Saturday,  ... I seemed to have deleted it from my GPS, so rather than download again from big computer, route  was sent wirelessly back to me again. ( Although I did know where we going anyway).
Myself, the leader was very close to handing over my role to other capable persons, due to being in training for a red nose for Rudolph.

So encouraged to start the walk, and with my LDWA friends in agreement not to commit to the published walk, due to combination of my germs and not too an encouraging weather outlook... off we went steadily uphill, and a bit more on a level to Ormes Moor, and then to the fingerpost on the ridge at Wilderness ( Chew Hurdles on OS map). Weather still not great, but got a glimpse of Dovestones down below, to where we headed for an indoor lunch stop. Then off via Binn Green, to Long Lane, and we did go up to Pots and Pans. First ( and only ) photos of the day taken. Return via the White House at Pobgreen, Saddleworth Church, and picked up the canal for an easy couple of miles back to the start, and a final tea/ coffee,  with 17.2 miles and 3000ft ascent underfoot.

Have a great Christmas, see you for Friezland number nine variation in December 2019
