Pre 100 Loosener Upper

Since Norman's entry into the Wessex 100 he had been apprehensive about doing too long a walk and on the day was even thinking of shortening the distance further so as not to leave himself exhausted for the 100.The other walkers promptly reminded him of his obligations - 'not worth lacing boots up for less than....' etc so Norman duly obliged with his original route.First objective was the local windfarm - whatever your views on them they cannot be missed.Looped round to Dunford Bridge, formerly on the express rail line between Manchester and Sheffield which has now been utilised for the Trans Pennine Trail.Passed Winscar Reservoir and squelched through some boggy ground near Upper Windleden Reservoir to reach the A628 Woodhead Pass.Next objective was Lansett Reservoir and we skirted round the far side of the reservoir followed by a scramble through some woods - why use footpaths when alternative interest can be generated? One final bruising ascent before descent into Thurlstone and then a gentle couple of miles back to Scout Dyke Reservoir.
A good day out - 19 miles, some sun, some extremely heavy showers,a varied route including woodland and moorland. Grateful thanks to Norman and yes,he did complete his first 100 in spite of his pre walk worries.
