After several weeks of wet weather we were finally promised a good day and how people responded. Over 20 waiting to stretch their legs today, including several from West Yorkshire group.

Off via Wood Nook Caravan park on to Malham Moor and on to Conistone on broad grassy paths. Just like walking on carpet. Too early to use the roundabout for a morning break and on to Coniston Pie to take in the stunning valley views with our coffee.

Along the Dales Way toward Kettlewell but a sharp right hand manouvre uphill commenced the long steady ascent of Capplestone Gate. On top, small patches of snow still dotted the ground. Our next objective were the Lead mine workings at Yarnbury and the stream was followed as far as Hebden.

The route up to this stage was familiar to most, but I now managed to find a little used path out of Hebden to Linton Church. Recent floods ensured that the stepping stones were not a realistic option. Instead we crossed the bridge at Linton Falls and back to Threshfield via the primary school.

The sun shone, lovely paths underfoot and good company.
