Turnout was somewhat down today for our annual joint walk with South Manchester group. Perhaps it was the distance, maybe the thought of venturing on to the M60 on a weekday morning that deterred people.

What a good walk as well. Not overly high mileage with a total of around 18.5 but plenty of legwork on the ascent which approached 4500ft over the course of the day.

Morning consisted of bagging a number of tops linked by good though sometimes steep paths. Lunch followed at the Ponderosa cafe where we unfortunately landed just after a coach party, and the afternoon was spent in amongst limestone crags with some scrambling and scree slopes for variety.

Back by 4pm. A grand day out in what was a new area for me.
