2014 10 11 Addingham

Minor panic before walk as indicated car park not available for all day parking. Dave had found an alternative behind the Swan but had to keep nipping up and down High St to collect everyone. Apologies to anyone missed!

Closure of the Bolton Estate for sporting reasons limited our options but a good lower level route had been put together for our enjoyment. An initial ascent up to Haw Pike in glorious sunshine was accompanied by a volley of gunfire. Descent into Draughton and then onwards to Embsay passing a group of Clitheroe Ramblers en route.

Passed behind Glenn & Val's holiday home as we approached Skipton. Where were they? No sign today. Into Skipton for lunch and a couple of the girls expressed a desire for a coffee stop. Accommodated of course, whilst the rest of us sat overlooking the canal basin munching sandwiches & pastries.

Fortified, we now had our toughest climb of the day on to Skipton Moor. Very wet underfoot in places following recent rain, but who cares? Nearly back now and with a slight detour or two we followed the Millenium Way back to Addingham.

Out of courtesy we called into the Swan and most of us indulged in a glass or two of lemonade. 20 miles with a little over 2000ft of ascent in just under 7 hours
