2014 03 22 Jacob's Revenge

Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported our walk on Saturday. We managed to have at all 4 seasons of weather in one day - ranging from glorious sunshine in the morning to sleet/snow as we ascended Jacobs Ladder at the end of the day. However, the weather didn't seem to dampen any spirits (or slow anyone down !).

The route covered the lovely Mam Tor ridge, passing Hollins Cross and on to Lose Hill. After the steep descent off Lose Hill we walked through the valley where we were greeted with hosts of daffodils and baby lambs in the fields. As we rested in Jaggers Clough for lunch unfortunately the weather began to close in. Passing by the impressive Edale Hostel we arrived at Edale before progressing on the Pennine Way up and over Jacobs Ladder. We then continued to Edale Cross before enjoying a long leisurely descent into Hayfield. A bit of culture (or a comedy moment) was included as we passed the birth place of Arthur Lowe (aka Captain Mannering).

Despite 24 miles and 5,000 ft of climbing we finished half an hour earlier finish than anticipated, enabling Rochdale Norman to get back in plenty of time for United's kick-off !! (We like to cater for everyone's needs)
