2014 03 20 Hello Hatters

Many a discussion has been had as to why most walks are done in a clockwise direction, but this walk solved that problem by being linear. From Stockport train station we made our way along the River Mersey to Cheadle, where we joined the Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail to Bramhall Park. Along the way most people spotted the martin-pecheur, just before we stopped for elevenses. From the park we progressed onto the Fred Perry Way, where we passed Roger's home and he introduced us to the walk his cat takes him out on, but no invite for tea and toast was forthcoming. Again we passed the Mermaid Inn, Handforth without venturing inside. Soon we arrived at Quarrybank Mill where requests for an unplanned toilet stop did nothing to help my navigating skills. Back on track lunch was taken in Styal Wood. Onward we passed under Manchester Airport runways to the Bollin Way to reach our destination at Hale. Thanks to those at the front we had made excellent progress which made it possible to enjoy a swift half in the Cheshire Midland Hotel before catching the four o'clock train home.
