2013 10 31 Barley Bash

Halloween so where else but off to Pendle Hill. Not for us the route to the top in fancy dress but a serious 20 mile walk doing a complete circuit of Pendle Hill without going near the summit.

Route is courtesy of a 2005 Midweek Kanter by West Lancs LDWA and an excellent route it turned out to be. Nine of us at the start even though a couple had been misled by the early start advertised in Strider. One other tried to make it later but was hampered by Barley being a mobile free zone and had to settle for his own entertainment.

In an anticlockwise direction we reached Downham, then Worston where the leader got it wrong but skillfully saved face, Nick of Pendle, Black Hill and finally Higham. Plenty of ups and downs. A good route.

Back shortly after 3pm so time for tea at the cafe at Barley.
