Littleborough

A dusting of snow greeted us as we arrived for the days activity. Poor weather on the far side of the Pennines had reduced the number of guests and only Tom had made it having set out from York at 5.30am.

Nine of us set out from Littleborough bang on 8.30am and apart from getting temporarily mislaid in a wood (leaves had covered the path since the recce) we made good progress to Watergrove reservoir. We drank in the tranquil scene whilst having a short break.

Next objective was the quarry on Middle Hill, over Hades Hill and on to Freeholds Top to bag our first trig of the day. Quick descent to Gorple reservoir where lunch taken.

On to the Long Causeway before swinging towards Summit and a canal walk back to the start. An early finish having completed 17 miles in around 6 hours. 'Back in time for the match' was the cry.
