Robbies Stroll

Robbies Stroll. Thursday 28th November.

Some of us are fair weather walkers. PNFS walk in New Mills on Wednesday - it rained all day. Robbies Stroll on Thursday - it rained all day. Fed up. Sunday was great so I was out at last to Recce the Totley Trots for our February walk. Much better. Still, three daft brave souls did Robbies swim stroll in spite of the rain. Report attached. - Duncan

It looked bad, it was going to be muddy, lets all stay in bed! Well 3 hardy souls didn’t, and what a great day it was. Yes, it was all the above, but Ann, Steve M and myself, had a wonderful day. A low level circular around Whalley Bridge, but getting great views of Chinley Churn, Castle Naze and Kinder. It rained all day, full waterproofs ( which I hate) but the sarnie breaks and Robbies planning more than made up for the weather. Now, wait for the big finish. Yes, we went around Toddbrook and viewed both the work going on and the run off into the various water courses. It couldn’t get better. A smashing day, if you stayed in bed, you missed a goodie. Nice one Robbie. p.s. The days story telling was something else. It was touch and go right upto our arrival back at Whalley. The Leader had stolen the day with the tale of Carmen the Terrible, but your scribe hit back with The Barn Dance chase. Neck and neck but he played his trump card with the Batchelor Night antics in the Village Centre. Steve slumped off after only coming third. He will hit back I’m sure.
