29th Durham Dales Challenge

The 29th Durham Dales Challenge will be held on 23rd June 2018 at 9 am

As usual there will be a choice of routes, this year you can choose between 30 miles and 14 miles. As usual, there will be a time limit, 12 hours for the 30 mile route or 9 hours for the 14 mile route.

Once again, the HQ will  be at The Masonic Hall, Wolsingham DL13 3AN (GR NZ073373).

There is a slight change to the shorter option, it will now go straight to Bollihope from Pikestone Fell, avoiding the main road altogether. The 30 mile route has been changed significantly this year due to footpaths being eroded. It will follow the usual  paths via Hamsterley Forest  but will use the Tees Railway Path to get to Middleton on the South Side of the river. There is a new route over Monks Moor to join the shorter option to Bollihope and taking the same path back to Wolsingham alongside Bollihope Beck and the River Wear. Full details of the routes, and GPX files, can be found here.

We regret no dogs allowed due to nesting birds on the moors..
