Hambleton (Osmotherley) | Saturday 02 June 2018

Walk Leader: Anton Nielsen
Participants: 12/8 (4 planned early retirees)
Mileage: 25 miles
Ascent: 4430 ft
Walk Report: Robert Cope

A "there and back" trek south from Square Corner along the Cleveland Way backbone, but with a big loop and climb taking in Kepwick, Cowesby and Boltby followed by a smaller loop and climb up Sutton Bank. Incorporating bits of both the old and the current Kilburn Kanter.

We avoided the threatened thunderstorms but not the very high humidity, some heavy rain, drizzle and finally mist and low cloud.  The claimed "Finest View in Yorkshire" at the top of Sutton Bank was not quite at its best!

Nothwithstanding the weather conditions a thoroughly enjoyable and quite challenging day out with our Cleveland Group colleagues.  Thanks Anton!

Not many photos on this trip due to the damp and poor visibility.  But not often that you see such a display of Rhododendrons or Azaleas like this in the "wild" (or are they something else altogether - I'm no expert).
