Wensleydale Wedge 2020 Entries


Entries are now being accepted from walkers and runners for the 30th Wensleydale Wedge to be on Sunday 15th November 2020.

A 23 mile event to be completed in 9 hours - starting from Askrigg Temperance Hall at 08.00 (registration from 06.45).

The entry fee is £8.00 (in advance) or £10 (on the day if places available).

Please do not park in Askrigg village, event parking is available a little way along the road between Askrigg and Bainbridge. 

For those requiring accommodation there are a number of hotels and bed & breakfast places in Askrigg and Bainbridge including Sykes House and the Rose & Crown.  Camping is available at Lowlands Farm 

This is a winter challenge event, it is strongly recommended that each entrant carry: Map - OS Outdoor Leisure Sheet 30 or Landranger Sheet 98; whistle; compass; waterproof jacket and over-trousers; first-aid kit; survival bag or blanket; torch, emergency rations and MUG.

Part of the challenge is to navigate the route using public rights of way; there is no route description. The Checkpoints (and amended route from 2016) are:

 Please observe the following rules (they are for your safety and enjoyment of the event)

  1. Retire at roadside checkpoints only.  Transport will be provided back to the start.
  2. Entrants will not be allowed to continue if, in the opinion of the Checkpoint Officer or Sweeper, they are unfit to do so (there will be a cut-off time of 2.30pm at Castl;e Bolton).
  3. Visit all checkpoints including self-clips.  Anyone without a fully clipped tally at the finish will be disqualified.
  4. Cross walls and fences at stiles and gates; close gates; follow way marks.  PLEASE OBSERVE THE COUNTRY CODE.
  5. The organiser's decision is final; they cannot accept responsibility for any injury or loss during the event.
  6. No dogs are allowed on this event.
