Merseystride Group

Stream Crossing

Welcome to the Merseystride website

The group was formed in 1980 as the Local Group of the LDWA covering Merseyside, the Wirral, West Cheshire and a large part of North Wales.  We are a friendly bunch of people of both sexes with a wide age range and from a wide variety of backgrounds.

We have a group social walk every month usually of about twenty miles or so but occasionally longer.  The pace is accommodating and the venue can be anywhere within a couple of hours' drive.  Snowdonia, the Welsh Borders, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, Bowland, the Howgills and the Lake District are all favourite areas.  You will find our current programme by using the Future Events link on the left.

In the programme you will see 'Open to Offas'.  This is our own annual challenge event with a choice of two distances - 23 or 15.5 miles.  It is based in Cilcain near Mold and is highly regarded attracting upwards of 100 participants most years.  More details can be found in the Open to Offas link on the left,

We don't have a formal membership for the group.  Any current member of the LDWA, no matter where they are from, is welcome to join us on any of our walks and prospective members are encouraged to try us before they join.  If you need to know more about the LDWA, click the box on the left which will take you to their website.

If you have news items, photos, or any other local topical material that would be of interest to others please send it to gjsher@live.com
