17th Founders' Challenge, Sunday 20th October 2013

In October each year we organise a 26 mile challenge event based at Peaslake in Surrey with a 26 mile route (1,100m ascent) and a shorter route which this year will be a route of approx. 17 miles with 640m ascent. Entry in advance costs £7 for LDWA members & £10 for non-members.

The event was first held in 1997, when it was called the Founders Jubilee Challenge. Tony Youngs devised the 26-mile route as a commemoration of the founding of the LDWA and the role of Alan Blatchford and Chris Steer in this. The route links various places connected to the origins of the LDWA in 1972: Blatchford Down, Steers Field, Tanners Hatch youth hostel, Pitch Hill and the old Peaslake Post Office.

Entries online or by post will be accepted from 1st April 2013.
