Christmas in the Chilterns

Sat 3rd Mar 2018

Walk Details:

Event Details Updated
UPDATED 23/2 WITH WALK AND TRANSPORT DETAILS: Approx 2600ft of climbing across the heart of the Chiltern Hills. Please make sure you only catch an 'Oxford Tube' coach - there are other motorway coaches from London to Oxford but they don't stop at Lewknor. At Marble Arch (the stop which the leader will be using), use Stop 14, which is adjacent to the NE corner of Hyde Park, immediately south of the Marble Arch itself. The fare is £18 day return from any London stop, or £14 for over 60s with ID. Bus passes don't count! Tickets can be bought either from the driver or in advance via the Oxford Tube website www.oxfordtube.com Walkers from west London can also catch the Heathrow to Oxford coach called 'the airline' from Heathrow Central Bus Station at 0820; there's a half-hourly return service. If you are joining by car at the start of the walk, we will be arriving at the bus stop on the B4009 immediately to the west of the M40, not in the village of Lewknor itself. There is some informal parking here, often taken by early commuters - but possibly easier on Saturdays.
