This week sees us rolling up our sleeves and clearing the decks for one of the best challenge events in the LDWA calendar. Our Capital Challenge is only three years old but already it has created such a buzz that walkers - and runners - from all parts of the country want to give it a go. Those of us who were lucky enough to sample it on the Marshals Walk can confirm that the route is as interesting and entertaining as ever (though watch out for the short but very slippery section alongside the New River, just after Checkpoint 3). We hope every entrant has a great day and we look forward to greeting you at the View Tube finish.
Gipping Valley River Path, 26th March A sunny day for Pete's Tuesday pop-up walk from Ipswich to Stowmarket.
Billingshurst Circular, 30th March Above and below: Lonica's Saturday hike in Sussex. There are more of Gavin's excellent photos from both walks on our Facebook.

General Notes
This challenge event takes in London's finest parks and architecture. Celebrating the best of London's green spaces, the route uses almost completely mud-free paths through public parks, over fine town squares and beside waterways. There are 4 checkpoints, of which 2 have simple refreshments, and also cafes at the start & finish, with public transport close to hand and in general. In addition, the route passes a wide variety of shops and cafes along much of its length. Entries are now closed for this year's event, but you can read about last year's event at: https://www.ldwa.org.uk/London/W/5265/2018.html
