Dear all,
First things first. Many thanks to Adam, my predecessor, for keeping us informed and entertained via this Newsletter for the last three and a half years. He will be a hard act to follow, but (rolls up sleeves, puts on tin hat) here we go.
This week features a veritable and varied cornucopia of walks, starting with Tuesday when Lonica will take us roaming round the Greenwich gloaming. Join her at 18.00 at Cutty Sark DLR station, conveniently placed for post-walk refreshment at the nearby Wetherspoon's.
Which brings us to Thursday and our second walk this week, the resurrection of Godfrey's pop-up walk. This had to be called off because of the Great Freeze and subsequent disruption of trains at the start of this month but, with the forecast promising mild weather all this week, what could be nicer than a brisk yomp starting in mid-morning from Northwood Hills station to Rickmansworth, featuring the Hillingdon Trail, the Grand Union Canal and lakes plus a Wetherspoon's finale.
Finally, Saturday brings the Marshals Walk (for Event Marshals only) for London Group's wonderful Capital Challenge. I can only say that if you've never done this route before, it's packed with interesting sights both familiar and unfamiliar and you will enjoy all 27 miles of it immensely.

Croydon to Woldingham
23 walkers turned up on Saturday 2fth February to help Dave celebrate his 54th birthday (he's obviously a popular chap) and enjoy 18 miles of a death-defying descent, some spectacular tumbles, plenty of culture (allegedly the leader's speciality...) and - to cap it all - a daylight finish!
