Good morning everyone!

Well it doesn't seem two minutes since Christmas and now it's almost Valentine's day already.   Where would we be without this steady flow of gift-buying opportunities?   And soon we will have Easter eggs to look forward to as well!

But on a more prosaic note, once again we have an brace of excellent walks laid on for you this week.   Everything you need to know follows below!

Starting first with Gordon's walk on Thursday, you will have noticed straight away that this excursion has been re-scheduled from Tuesday, whilst neatly side-stepping the romance of Wednesday itself.   So make sure that you have got the right date in your diaries, and scoot along to Mile End Station for 18.00 on Thursday evening to join his exploration of some of the iconic cultural and historical sights of London's East End.   Gordon asks that you bring a torch on this walk, as there are parts of the route with no streetlighting and which are likely to be dark.

And then, come the weekend, on Saturday, we will be striding out a bit further afield, and indulging in a spot of mountaineering.   With Christopher's Lewes-based circuit offering the prospect of both the death-defying ascent of Mount Caburn and a traverse of the notorious Kingston Ridge, this is going to be an outing of truly Himalayan proportions (OK well it's actually East Sussex rather than Tibet but it's just a matter of degree).   If you'd like to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, make your way to Lewes Station for 08.47 on Saturday morning.   And, of course, don't forget your crampons.   (PS you will need a torch for this one, as well).

Well I think that's just about it for now.   Have a great week, and try and dispel the notes of Space Oddity which will surely have been ringing on your ears ever since last week's remarkable, if slightly eccentric, extraplanetary event in Florida.

Adam
