London LDWA

Hello again!

We're well into 2018 now, and it's already beginning to feel like normal.   And although the nights are long and the weather is inclement, it won't be long before the snowdrops start making themselves known and our walks will be adorned with the first early signs of spring.

But let's keep our feet more firmly on the ground for a moment, as I bring you this week's Important Notice:

LDWA London AGM!

Here's another reminder - as if one were needed - that we will be holding our AGM on the evening of Thursday 8 March.   More details are in our Secretary's recent note, but make sure you get the date in your diaries as soon as possible - if you haven't already!

So now let's turn to this week's walks.

On Wednesday evening in a change of plan, our walk be UN-LED, as the leader, Colin, is suffering an injury. However interested walkers should assemble at Leicester Square tube at 17.00 where Colin will hand over instructions for a self-guided walk (at own risk). Colin will also be in the Lord Moon of the Mall Wetherspoons both before (from 16.00) and after (from about 20.00) the walk. Anyone wishing to join him would be welcome to do so

Cathedral in St Albans

St Albans cathedral (from Wikipedia)
-an Abbey as recently as 1539!

On Saturday, we will heading further afield and exploring the Colne and Ver valleys of Hertfordshire.   So why not take this opportunity to discard the Capital's embrace for a few hours, and join Jerome at Radlett station at 09.08 on Saturday morning?   You'll get the chance to check out parts of the Hertfordshire Way, and some of the famous sights of historic St Albans, so this is an opportunity you definitely won't want to miss.   Again - as with all our walks at this time of year, it would be prudent to bring a torch with you in case it's dark at the end.

I think that's plenty for now, so I'll sign off and wish you all a great week with lots of happy hiking!
