Well - just a week to go and the excitement is almost unbearable. But you will be glad to know that LDWA London has a great walk laid on this week - as always - to help you while away the hours till Santa plops down the chimney.

But first - a quick (and final!) plea. The 2018 summer walks programme is almost full now - in fact we have no fewer than 34 walks already planned for the warmer months - but there are still two midweek evening gaps left that we'd like to fill.
So if you think you could lead a walk on either the evening of Wednesday 18 July or Wednesday 22 August (or the Tue/Thu either side) please let me know simply by replying to this email.
I would need your walk details by the middle of January.

The Compleat Hiker!
A shot from last year's LDWA London Christmas walk
This week's walk is on Saturday, when Christopher will be jingling all the way along the Thames from Hammersmith to Limehouse, with suitable "seasonal hostelry stops" thrown in along the way. This magnificent journey convenes at Hammersmith Tube station in Broadway shopping centre at 09.00 on Saturday morning and rather cryptically you are invited to bring "seasonal emblems" along with you. Quite how you interpret this request is a matter of individual taste, but I am sure the results will be spectacular.
And finally - a few brief notices before I sign off:
- Just like the bin collections, the next couple of Weekly Updates may be slightly delayed because of the bank holidays
- Please note that we have had to cancel Colin's "pop up" walk on Sat 30 Dec. However, if you would like to do this "dawn to dusk midwinter challenge" un-led (and at your own risk!), I can provide walk notes and GPX etc. Just reply to this email if you would be interested
- PLAN AHEAD! Susanne will be leading her world-renowned "hangover buster" walk on Mon 1 January, so get the date in your diaries now, before your head becomes too befuddled with Festive Spirit

Meet Russell Square Underground; finish Greenwich Cutty Sark We will be using little back streets and alleyways and also explore a fast disappearing East End. The walk will continue through Docklands and along the River to Greenwich
General Notes
Easy pace. This will be a gentle introduction to the walking New Year. Note late start and shorter distance. This walk will replace the normal LDWA style weekend walk. Lunch TBA. Assistance dogs only please
