London LDWA

Hello everyone!

Well now the Halloween hauntings and bonfire bangs are out of the way, we can look forward to an uninterrupted 48 shopping days until Christmas.   Yes, a joyful prospect indeed, but just in case the excitements of Oxford Street in November don't inspire you, London LDWA has plenty of alternatives on offer.

In fact, this week, we've got one of our increasingly popular midweek specials - as well as a weekend walk - lined up for your enjoyment.   So read on to find out more!

Our first event this week comes on Wednesday and it's another midweek daytime excursion, courtesy of Ron.   This time, he's taking everyone who is fortunate enough not to be stuck in an office, on a walk with a difference round the City of London.   His fascinatingly-named "Ecclesiasitcal Odyssey" aims to visit all 48 churches and 10 towers listed in Tony Tucker's eponymous guidebook.   The walk starts on Wednesday at 11.00 at Barbican station, but please note firstly that the walk details (including the start location) have changed significantly recently, so please read the walk summary below carefully, and secondly that you should download and print off route-notes first.

Tony Tucker's book, which will be our guide on Wednesday's walk
(Sadly it appears to be out of print at the moment - thought doubtless Ron will bring along a copy..

Following hot on Ron's heels, so to speak, on Saturday, Jerome will be leading us on a circular tour of Eden.   Well the Eden Valley, at any rate and the one in Kent, not Cumbria.   His 20 mile outing takes in a Valley, and Nature Reserve, some Castles and a Reservoir - so an excellent all-rounder.   If you'd like to join this exciting excursion, you'll need to get to Edenbridge town rail station for 08.50 on Saturday morning, where Jerome will meet you.   Please note the point about dogs on this walk.

Well that's all for now.   See you later!

Adam
