Dear all
We've got a great walking week lined up for you, but first...
...I probably don't need to remind you that on Saturday this week, LDWA London presents its annual "Founders'" Challenge event.
But if you HAD forgotten it's not quite too late - entries close at 20.00 tonight, (Mon 9 October) so you still have a few hours left if you want to make a last-minute entry. But don't hang around if you're going to do it! There's a choice of running or walking 27 miles or walking 16 miles: something to suit everyone!

And in a new (well fairly new) innovation, don't forget that you can follow people as they walk, in real-time. To do this, click here
There's also some more info about the event, at the bottom if this email.
It absolutely NEVER rains on the Founders'... Parasols at Checkpoint 3, Friday Street, in 2016
Now - let's turn to our social walks programme this week. Given that we've got "Founders'" on Saturday, we've only got a midweek walk on offer this week. But it's a cracker!
Yes, on Wednesday, Colin will be leading a fascinating-sounding "Docklands Exploration", which includes docks, tunnels and Wetherspoons - which must surely be the essential ingredients of any successful walk! To join in this fiesta of fun, make sure you get yourself to Blackwall (DLR) station for 18.30 on Wednesday evening. Note that Colin has recently supplied some more details of his walk - so check out the website or read the notes below for the latest update.
Well that's all for this week.
So, if you're walking on Saturday, have a great time in the hills, and if you're walking on Wednesday, have a great evening in the docks!
Adam

The 21st occasion on which we remember the founders of the LDWA by visiting the beautiful locations associated with them: Blatchford Down, Steer’s Field, Tanners Hatch Youth Hostel, Pitch Hill Toposcope and the old Peaslake Post Office. Off-road, on good footpaths and tracks in the Surrey Hills, designated an AONB in 1958. The routes offer a wonderful mixture of autumnal forest and downland. Together with the welcome provided at Cps and fine food at the finish, these elements make the Founders’ Challenge A Memorable Day Out!. Entry opens 1st Apr 2017, closes 9th Oct 2017.
