London LDWA

Hello everyone!

First - thanks to everyone who voted in the 2016 photo competition.   There was a very good turnout and I'm pleased to advise that the winner was Keith Lane with his photo "The sky welcoming us to the City and the end-of-walk Wetherspoons".
The runner up was Godfrey O'Callaghan with his entry "Two great smiles - Paul Lawrence and Dolores Rice".
The prizes were awarded at our winter party last Tuesday, and the winning photos are reproduced below.   For the full results, click this link.

Second - please note there has been a change in date for Dave's forthcoming Walthamstow Wander walk.   It's moved from Saturday 18 to Sunday 19 February.   The full details of the walk can be found by clicking this link.

So - now on to this week's outings.  Well this week we've actually got two fantastic linear walks in store for you.

First up, on Wednesday evening, Douglas will be leading a riverside walk, from Kingston to Richmond, enjoying the delights of the Thames by night.   And possibly enjoying even more the drinks in a Richmond pub which are promised at the end.   If you'd like to join this midweek nocturne, just make your way to Kingston station by 18.30.

And in a near-miracle of advance planning, on Saturday, Jerome will also be leading a walk which finishes up in Richmond - although this time the walk approaches from rather more far-distant Rickmansworth.   To join this wander, which takes in the waterscapes of the Grand Union Canal as well as numerous parks along the way, be at Rickmansworth (or "Ricky" to the locals) station by 08.50.   Please note the important information about dogs on this walk.

Well that's enough for this week.   All the walk details are, as usual, on the web and are copied below.

Just time to see if there are any Seville oranges left in the shops.

Adam
