Hello everybody
Well what an Olympian fortnight it's been. Hats off to Team GB for such a sterling performance! And I was personally extremely cheered up by Nick Skelton's performance in the showjumping as I realise that perhaps in four years that gold letterbox just down the street could be within grasp after all. Better invest in some jodhpurs and learn how to ride a horse then, I suppose...
Could this be me in Tokyo?
But turning to the slightly more practical, we've got some possibly rather less strenuous bipedal activities lined up for you this week.
First of all, on Wednesday evening, John and Gail will be leading us on a tranquil walk through the riversides and parklands of the upstream Thames. And what better way to complete the tranquil scene than with a beer and chicken club curry at Wetherspoons at the end? So if this grabs your imagination, make your way to Richmond Station for 6pm on Wednesday.
And then second, on Saturday, David will be taking us on a magnificent-sounding exploration of the Sevenoaks Weald. His walk promises a remarkably high Castle count, as well as an abundance of historic houses, magnificent views, and spectacular gardens. I doubt whether even an Exodus holiday would be able to cram quite so much into a single day's journey, so be sure not to miss it! Just make your way to Sevenoaks rail station for 09.42 on Saturday morning. And don't forget the camera (yes, our photo competition is beginning to take off now - click here to see the latest entries)
Well that's all for now - enjoy the last of the summer wine (and the summer holidays), and don't forget to check out the notes below for the full details of this week's walks
