London LDWA

Dear all

Well, as usual, we've got lots going on in London LDWA this week.   And at a time when we cast our minds back to 2012 and to the heady days of the London Olympics, and as we also start to anticipate Rio in 2016, then what could be more appropriate than our first walk of the week?

Yes, on Wednesday eveningRob will be taking us on a trip even further down memory lane, to 1908 when London hosted the Olympic games for the first time.   His walk will be visiting some of the sights of both the 1908 and 2012 Olympic games, and sounds like the perfect after-work excursion.   So if you would like to learn a bit more about London's athletic history, then you need to be at White City tube station at 18:15 on Wednesday evening.   And don't forget the lycra.   Well, maybe not.

Moving on to the weekend, then on SaturdayDave will be leading an interesting walk visiting, among other things, a semaphore tower in Surrey, and the delightful Hogsmill river - one of the lesser known tributaries of the Thames.   Although sadly bereft of Wetherspoons, Dave is offering the potential of cream tea, which may be a small compensation for not being able to enjoy a pint and a plate of yesterday's left-over curry special for £3.50.   To be part of this exciting excursion, just join Dave at Berrylands station at 09.00 on Saturday.   And as the walk notes below caution, you might want to avoid wearing shorts unless you have kevlar legs.

Well that's enough from me for now.   Make the most of the week, enjoy the summer, and read all the details below!

Adam
