London LDWA

Dear all

Before I get into the details of this week's walk, just a quick reminder that we're rapidly approaching London LDWA's Annual General Meeting - coming up at 18:30 a week on Thursday (18 February) in The Perserverance pub, 63 Lamb’s Conduit Street.
It's your chance to have your say about how the London group is run - so please do get the date in your diaries.   All the details are in Douglas' recent emails, but you can also find everything you need - including the Treasurer's report, Walks Secretary's report and Founders' report - by clicking on this link.
Note that as an added enticement to attend, Ron has kindly agreed to lead a walk on the Thursday (18 Feb) afternoon immediately before the AGM.   Be at Angel station at 2pm on the 18th if you'd like to go.   More details are in the walks programme (click here)

AGM crowd

We're confidently prediciting a massive turnout for our AGM this year, so get there early to be sure of a seat!

While I'm on an administrative roll , please also don't forget that we're still on the lookout for people to come along and help at the annual LDWA "100" challenge event in Weymouth, Dorset on 27-30 May.   Susanne's co-ordinating our attendance, and you can get all the details by clicking here.

Finally, the "comets and curry" weekend in November has had a good response and it's fully booked now.   I'll be back in touch with those of you who expressed interest in a few weeks - but don't worry if you don't here more until the second half of March.

So!   Turning at last to the week's walk.  In a pre-Valentine's day excursion [NB if you are of a romantic nature, don't forget that next Sunday is the 14th..], Peter is leading an 18 mile walk along the Thames riverbank, slightly further upstream than our normal haunts.   This sounds like a really interesting Wind-In-The-Willows-y outing, so if you'd like to be there, take the train from Paddington and be at Tilehurst at 09.26 on Saturday.
NB Although the evenings are beginning to get a bit lighter, sunset is still relatively early (17.11 this Saturday), so you may want to bring a torch.

Well, that's everything for now.   Have a great week, and start preparing all those great ideas to bring with you to the AGM!

Adam
