London LDWA

Dear all:

Now that Abigail has been safely despatched to Iceland, let's hope we are in for a slightly less stormy period of weather.   Though on current performance, that might be a bit of a forlorn hope.

Anyway, we are made of tough stuff in London LDWA, so no matter what the weather throws at us, I'm sure we will be ready to take up the challenges of our next outing.

So this coming weekend, on Saturday, Charles is heading off into the Chilterns to lead a circular walk from Wendover passing through, among other things, the beechwoods to Speen.   En route he promises guanacos and woolly train deflectors.   And I know from personal experience that you might bump into a bodger or too along the way, as well.

So if your curiosity has been piqued, just make your way, complete with torch and full mud-protection, to Wendover station for 08.45 on Saturday morning.   But please note, given Chiltern Rail's recent track record of cancelling and re-timing trains at short notice, before you set off you might want to check National Rail enquiries (click here), just to make sure the 07.57 from Marylebone is actually running on time.

SpeenSpeen - the home of lacemakers and bodgers...

All the details of Saturday's walk are at the bottom of this email.

That's it for now.   Hope you all have a good week

Cheers

Adam
