London LDWA

Hello everyone

Well it was nice to see quite of few of you at last week's AGM and there's quite a lot going on this week to think about as well.

First of all, this Sunday Andy's organising a hike along the riverbank from Wimbledon which would be good in its own right even without the intriguing "One more Ham and Venison Wrap" title.   So if you want to know what this really means - there's only one way to find out.   Just be at Wimbledon station at 9 am on Sunday and all will be revealed.   All the details are at the bottom of this email.

The next point I wanted to draw to everyone's attention is the walk on the following Thursday (11 March).   For a variety of operational reasons, we're going to have to change the arrangements for this walk.   Keep an eye on the website (click here) which will have the latest information

Then last up, in a world first, we're going to have a caption competition.

Ali Pretty took the photo below on Margaret's hike in the South Downs a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was simply crying out for a caption.   So if you fancy yourself as a bit of a wit, then let me have your answers (by reply to this email) by next Sunday evening.   I will use an objective and totally scientific process to pick the winner which will be announced in this email next Monday.   I'll the buy the winner a fabulously generous £15 gift voucher for "Viewranger" electronic maps, which can be downloaded onto a smartphone for GPS navigation.

I look forward to seeing what the massed intellect of our 500 members can come up with..

In the meantime, happy hiking!

Adam
