Julia's January Jaunt Mk2

We were to enjoy a mild and pleasant day for walking with 19 members, including 3 new members joining us for the first time, for the first outing of the year.

From our redezvous at Bigby, Julia lead us along a mile or so of the Viking Way before striking off north towards Hendale where we enjoyed a welcome stop for tea and shortbread (thanks Terry).

On in a SW direction to Audelby and off via a track which would lead us down the Wolds escarpment back to the Viking Way.

Through Grasby and back to Searby then W to climb out at Howsham and on to our lunch stop at Claytons Cafe - always a popular choice. Invigorated, we resumed the walk heading towards Cadney and a short field crossing - this allowed us to remind ourselves of the grimmer side of winter walking - footwear tripled in weight with thick clinging mud!

Back on track we followed footpaths back to Howsham then headed east to cross the railway line and follow the track eventually taking us back to the cars at Bigby.

A great walk, just right for a winters day. Thanks to Julia for devising and leading the walk, Lorna for the pics and to everyone who came along.
