Big Skies and Straight Lines 201116

The weather had turned from sunshine on Saturday to wind and heavy rain on Sunday. Nevertheless, nine members and one dog met at Waddingham as dawn just about broke. The Big Skies were largely obscured by low rain cloud but we managed all the Straight Lines which most of our paths and tracks followed. A slight change in the route took us to Cadney village where we took shelter in the lovely old church for our morning break. As we were preparing to leave, the door opened and in came the Ministry team to conduct morning service. We had to decline the persuasive young curate's offer for us to take part in the service! A bit of road walking to avoid the heavy field mud and we arrived in Howsham for a short lunch stop at the local Cafe. Moving off, we now had the wind behind us as we headed on good paths back towards the River Ancholme. Crossing Hibaldstow bridge we followed paths to Rebourne village and the final route south back to Waddingham. In total about 19 miles. Thanks to everyone who turned out in such poor weather and to Lorna for the pictures.
