John's round Lincoln caper

Keep Lincoln Cathedral in sight

On a day when rain was threatened , 12 of us gathered for a circular walk around Lincoln to be led by John.

Riseholme was the first port of call followed by Burton then South Carlton after which we followed the Catchwater Drain  and then the Fossdyke which brought us to the Brayford Pool and in to Lincoln for a lunch stop .

Luckily we were under cover as a deluge of rain fell but things brightened up as we made our way out of Lincoln and along the disused railway line at the side of the River Witham , past the now defunct Washingborough station to cross the river at Fiskerton .

Through Fiskerton and on to Reepham where we stopped at the green for a welcome drink then on to Sudbrooke, through Sudbrooke Park and on to Scothern , Nettleham and back to the start .

Once again , the weather was pretty good overall in spite of the dire forecast .

Many thanks to John for devising and leading an interesting walk , thanks to John's wife Ann and daughter Sally for laying on tea and cakes after the walk and to Lorna for the photographs.
