Spring in Lakeland 50 Anytime Challenge in 2021

We are sorry to report that we have had to cancel our second attempt at our Brand New Spring in Lakeland 50 Mile Event which was due to be held on 18 and 19 April 2021 due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic.

(Please note that this event is totally separate from the 24 mile Spring in Lakeland event (also organised by Lakeland LDWA) which is being held on 10 April 2022.  If you want to enter that click here.)

So all is not lost.  Just like our That's Lyth event, we have decided to convert the challenge into Spring in Lakeland Anytime Challenge.  The event base is Staveley and three circular loops explore this beautiful corner of South Lakes:

Loop 1 - 18 Miles

Loop 2 - 16 Miles

Loop 3 - 16 Miles

If you undertake all three loops within a 24 hour timescale you will achieve a 50 mile qualifier for the 2022 Trans Pennine LDWA 100 event - complete by 11 April 2022 to qualify.

Beyond that you can choose to walk any of the following options:

Just Loop 1 = 18 Miles

Just Loop 2 = 16 Miles

Just Loop 3 = 16 Miles

Loop 1 and 2  or Loop 1 and 3 = both = 34 Miles

Loops 2 and 3 = 32 Miles

ALL THREE = 50 Miles

You can participate any time of your choosing between 29 March 2021 and 11 April 2022.  Walk on your own, with the dog, with friends, take your mum - your choices are endless as long as you walk within the current legal COVID restrictions at the time you go.  Please respect the tier zone travel advice too. The event will be entirely unsupported, so there are no refreshments provided and no marshals on the route (although you will be returning to your car after each loop, and Staveley the base does offer various cafes and take away facilities which we hope you will all support.  Runners are very welcome to take part, but it is not a race - just a fun day out.

Entries open via SiEntries from 10 March 2021 until 31 December 2021.

Start Time will be flexible.

Start location is Staveley outside the village Institute.  There is street parking in the village but do try to be considerate of the shop fronts which may need access during the day.

It will be £5 to enter and is for LDWA members only (an insurance requirement folks) , and you can link to the SiEntries page HERE. When you pay your entry fee we email you right back with our route description, GPX file and an emailed certificate afterwards.  You will be invited to log back onto SiEntries after the event to input your details of time taken.  A certificate will be prepared from this information. SiEntries will show a leader board so you can compare with others taking part.

Any queries you can email the event secretary at lakeland@ldwa.org.uk.
