Norman's Birthday Bash

Saturday 29th August we set sail from Loch Ryan to Larne, and enjoyed a smooth crossing. Once in Northern Ireland we set off North along the Antrim coastal road to Port Ballintrae to check in to two wonderful bungalows for the week.

On the Sunday we walked from the accommodation to Giant's Causway, and along the Antrim Coastal Path, and were treated to dramatic views.

Evening meals during the week at the local pub were superb . We also visited Bushmills Town for a meal on a couple of occasions.

The girls enjoyed themselves during the days at Coleraine, Ballybogy and Ballymoney. The Sperrin Mountains were the destination on Thursday, and it turned out to be a very long day, as the weather and terrain were against us. At the end of the day I was so tired I had to hail a tractor to take me to the pub!

The big day, 4th September dawned, with a champange breakfast and surprise decorations in the bungalow. The whole group visited Giant's Causway this time, and then ventured with trepidation to Carrick-A-Rede, a swaying rope bridge to a small island, with the Altlantic waves crashing far below. Not for the faint hearted! l had to coax Jackie accross!

The same day we continued to the Bushmills Distillery to steady our nerves! This was a superb tour. As a non whiskey drinker I gave my free dram to Betty, as I thought it tasted like medicine!

The Birthday evening meal was booked at the local pub, and everyone was so generous - they made me pay for the lot!

Many thanks to Betty and Viv, also to John and Neil, Jackie and Chris, and Roger and Bernard, for making my 70th so special.
