Red Rose 2018 Event Instructions
2nd RED ROSE 50-Route Description & Notes
Sat-Sun 15th/16th Sept 2018
Thank you for entering the second Red Rose 50mile event. This event welcomes walkers & runners. We want everyone to enjoy the fantastic Lancashire scenery.
Keep to the route & remember the country code.
Please read the following notes:-
- Give yourself plenty of time to park & register & prepare before the start
- FROM - The Jumbles Sailing Club, Horrobin Lane, Edgworth, Bolton, BL7 OHJ (SD 733 146)
- MAIN PARKING - Turton Tower Car Park, Chapeltown Rd. Edgworth, Bolton BL7 OHG
10 mins walk from the start - (SD 732 150) Some parking available at the Jumbles sailing club.
- REGISTRATION - Sat 15th Sept, from 6.30am at The Jumbles Sailing Club, tea & toast available, .
- MASS START - Walkers at 8am, runners at 9am.
- MAP - Exp 287 West Pennine Moors.
- GPX route - available on the East Lancs LDWA Website.
- ESSENTIAL KIT - Entrants walking/running during the night must be able to navigate on open moorland/ carry a compass, map/GPS, extra clothing & waterproofs, whistle, mobile phone (if owned), torch, extra batteries, first aid kit, mug & survival bag.
- RETIREMENTS - Please inform the event headquarters on the emergency number provided or checkpoint staff if you retire - do not just go home.
- FACILITIES - See website for checkpoint opening & closing times. Jumbles Sailing Club has large changing rooms with showers where bags can be left (valuables left at own risk). Bar available, hot food & drinks at the finish, & plenty of drinks & refreshments along the way.
- ROUTE - The route is circular & take in the scenic hills & moorlands of Lancashire. Note that there is no 28 mile option this year.
- TIME LIMIT - 50 miles in 24 hours to finish by 8am Sunday 16th Sept.
- REST - please take care driving home & enjoy the second Red Rose 50.
