20 mile route




30 mile route




This challenge event offers the choice of a 30 or 20mile routes in 11 hours. Starting from the village of Cerne Abbas, site of the famous Cerne Giant, the route will take in some of the best downland and river valleys of Dorset, passing through Alton Pancras, Lyscombe Chapel, Bingham's Melcombe (30 route only), the Dorsetshire Gap, Buckland Newton and Sydling St Nicholas (also 30 route only).

The event will start and finish at Cerne Abbas Village Hall (GR ST663014 Link to map). There is free parking in the vicinity – please park considerately and follow the advice of the marshals.There will be three checkpoints on the 30 mile route, two on the 20 mile route.

Includes light refreshments at checkpoints and a light meal at the end.
No dogs.
Please bring your own mug.

All participants must finish by 7:00pm - a cut off will be applied.

Event Rules
1.   Entrants agree to be bound by the rules; in all circumstances event officials’ decisions are final.
2.   Minimum age for entrants is 16. Entrants below 18 must obtain parent’s consent and apply to the Event Secretary for conditions of entry.
3.   Time limits and checkpoint closing times will be enforced.
4.   Entrants must follow the prescribed route (without mechanical assistance) and ensure their arrival at checkpoints is noted by marshals.
5.   Dogs are not allowed. 
6.   Entrants who are inadequately equipped according to the prevailing conditions will be disqualified. Entrants should therefore carry waterproofs, warm clothing, spare
food, drink and personal first aid items. All entrants must carry an OS maps covering the whole route, i.e. Explorer 117 or Landranger 194, as well as a
compass, whistle and the route description.
7.   Entry fee less a £3 admin charge will be refunded for cancellations prior to 5th March 2017 only.
Data Protection
Personal information submitted as part of a entry will be held by the event organisers for a period of up to three years after the event is held for the purposes of managing this event only. Photographs are likely to be taken at the event, which may be featured in Strider magazine or on LDWA websites. In addition, Summary Information may be published immediately and may be held in perpetuity for the purposes of providing a record of the event. You will have the right to request that all my personal Summary Information is anonymised, should you so request.
