13 walkers turned up at Ravenstonedale on a cold but pleasant day.

Jim, Andy, Neil, Helen, Dave , Pat, Dennis, Martin, Louise, Steve and our new members Paul, Kate and Jamie.

Leaving Ravenstonedale the walk crossed the main Tebay to Kirkby Stephen Road and farmland to Smardale Bridge before proceeding along a track past redundant quarry workings and joining the old railway line at the eastern end of the restored Smardale Viaduct.

Staying on the railway until Smardale Hall and then picking up the road crossing Scandal Beck on the footbridge before leaving the road and picking up a track to Crosby Garrett.

Coffee was enjoyed in the bus shelter (which doesn’t have any buses any more) in Crosby Garrett.

Leaving Crosby Garrett we crossed the Settle to Carlisle railway line at the site of the former Crosby Garrett station.

Proceeding along Ladle Lane and through farm land we crossed Newclose Lane and Potts Beck before reaching Little Asby. Leaving Little Asby out next stop was lunch near Asby Grange.

Leaving Asby Grange we passed Maison Gill before turning South   and joining the Dales Highway passing Sunbiggin Tarn and crossing the road to Ravenstonedale  Moor . 

Leaving Ravenstonedale Moor the route passed Brownber Hall and again crossed the railway to Smardale Bridge before returning to Ravenstonedale.
