 A HAPPY GROUP

The Walk started at Newbiggin on Lune and followed the former railway line from Tebay to Kirkby Stephen East Railway Station passing over the now restored Smardale Viaduct and staying on the railway until reaching Waitby where the  track was no longer accessible. Leaving the railway we passed through Waitby  briefly joining the Coast to Coast path to Greenriggs Farm.  The route then passed round the edge of Kirkby Stephen and joined the former Kirkby Stephen to Warcop  railway.

Leaving the railway the walk then passed through the village of Soulby on route to Warcop Old Bridge. Leaving Warcop the route  passed through farmland passing over Crosby Garrett Fell to the starting point. A total distance of 23.25 Miles with approximately 2,500 feet of ascent.

Seven LDWA members completed the walk of whom five were Cumbria LDWA members and two were members who had recently moved to the area.
